Scottish Rugby have thanked Christine Belisle for her dedication, commitment and service to the national team and wished her the very best in the next chapter of her journey following her international retirement.

The 32-year-old Loughborough Lightning tighthead prop made the news public on Instagram on Friday evening, meaning that her 42nd and last appearance in a dark blue shirt was against England in the Women’s Rugby World Cup quarter-final defeat to England in Bristol in September 2025. She started that 40-8 reverse and played 47 minutes.

As well as the governing body, many of Belisle’s international team mates have paid tribute to the player they call ‘CB’ with back-row Rachel McLachlan saying:  “The best of the best, proud of you.”

Scrum-half Jenny Maxwell said:  “Congrats my girl! So excited to see what’s next for you!”

Winger Rhona Lloyd said:  “You’re amazing.”

Stand-off Helen Nelson said:  “Proud of you, all the love.”

And, adding to the personal statement she put out on Friday, when Scottish Rugby announced the news on Tuesday Belisle said:  “Playing for Scotland has truly been the honour of my lifetime. Though the curtain has closed on my international career, I carry all of it with me: the pride, the pain, the joy, the love.

“To the fans, you guys are the best. Thanks for showing up and showing out. You have made the last six years some of the coolest of my life.

“I look forward to moving into this new chapter with trust in the universe if what’s to come and a firm belief in ‘what’s for you will not pass you’.”
