Heriot’s No.8 Kay Lusby is set to make her Edinburgh Rugby debut in round four of the Celtic Challenge away to Gwalia Lightning on Saturday.

Lusby, who impressed during the Arnold Clark Premiership season for Heriot’s before Christmas, comes into the side along with loosehead prop and club mate Alison Wilson and fellow back-row Cat Moody.

In the backs, Lucy MacRae comes in at centre for her second start of the season.

Lauryn McGrotty and Pip Benson are added to the bench from where Niamh Waters could debut.

Ahead of the second versus fifth match at the CCB Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach at 1pm, Edinburgh head coach Claire Cruikshank said: “Gwalia have made a red-hot start to the season so we’ll need to be at our best for the challenge that awaits in Wales.

“Last week’s result against the Wolfhounds didn’t go our way, but we have a lot to be proud of from that performance and a lot that we can build on going into this match.”

Glasgow are also on their travels this weekend and will head into their clash with Clovers in Belfast on Sunday with co-captain Holland Bogan having been named One Four Nine Wealth Warrior of the Month for December.

The second-row, who was this week named in the Scotland training squad, impressed during the win over Brython Thunder and the loss to Edinburgh last month and has kept that form going into January.

After the round three loss to Gwalia, Hannah Smyth comes in on the wing for the Warriors with Robyn Allan on the bench. Hannah Dunnett of Hillhead Jordanhill could debut from the bench with Poppy Fletcher also likely to see her first action of the season from there.

Before the Sunday 3pm third versus fourth clash at the Affidea Stadium, Glasgow head coach Lindsey Smith said:  “We’ve opted for consistency in selection this week, giving another chance for this group to show their character and build on the work we’ve been putting in at training.

“We know Clovers will bring intensity and commitment, but we believe in our preparation and the way this squad has responded to challenges posed across the competition so far.

“Across the full 80 minutes that we’ll need to be sharp and take our opportunities when they come.”

At the same ground, the unbeaten leaders Wolfhounds host winless Brython on Sunday at 12pm.
