The win over Italy at the weekend was Scotland’s seventh home win on the spin in the Guinness Six Nations – and now they will look to make it eight on Saturday when they host Ireland (2.15pm, live on BBC).
I will of course be a much tougher test than against Conor O’Shea’s men, especially with Ireland wounded after a home loss to England, but Scotland can take confidence from the previous seven wins.

Scotland ended a 10 year winless streak against France to back up an away win in Italy.
The hosts recovered from Guilhem Guirado’s early try to lead 18-5 after Stuart Hogg and Duncan Taylor tries, the latter a superb individual effort.
Gael Fickou’s score reduced France’s half-time deficit, and two Maxime Machenaud penalties made it 21-18.
Then Hogg’s brilliant overhead pass saw Tim Visser’s try secure victory.

Scotland recorded only their second opening round victory in Six Nations history in this cracker.
The hosts enjoyed a stunning start with Stuart Hogg crossing twice.
Keith Earls scored in the corner, but Alex Dunbar’s try from a clever lineout move put the Scots 21-5 up.
Tries from Iain Henderson and Paddy Jackson put Ireland 22-21 ahead before Greig Laidlaw’s two late penalties.
Scotland 29 Wales 13 2017
A spirited second-half performance at BT Murrayfield earned Scotland their first Six Nations win over Wales in a decade.
Wales led13-9 at the interval, Liam Williams rounding off a slick move for their solo try.
Scotland were dominant in the second half with Tommy Seymour and Tim Visser crossing the line and stand-off Finn Russell earning 19 points with his kicking.

Scotland won a third Six Nations match in the same campaign for the first time since 2006.
Stuart Hogg’s long-range penalty put the hosts ahead before Finn Russell finished off heavy pressure to score.
Replacement Matt Scott touched down the second for a 15-0 lead, with Italy’s Carlo Canna missing three penalties.
Further tries from Tim Visser and Tommy Seymour sealed a bonus point win.
Scotland 32 France 26 2018
Scotland put defeat by Wales behind them to win this high scoring encounter.
The first of two Teddy Thomas tries put France into an early 10-0 lead before Sean Maitland crossed for Scotland.
Thomas gathered a lucky bounce to score again but the hosts replied via Huw Jones’ try, only for Maxime Machenaud’s second penalty to put France 20-14 up.
Greig Laidlaw kicked six penalties, to two from Baptiste Serin, to see the Scots home.
Scotland 25 England 13 2018
Scotland scored three tries to defeat England for the first time since 2008.
Centre Huw Jones scored two tries and Sean Maitland grabbed another as the hosts led 22-6.
Owen Farrell landed two penalties, and his converted try on the brought England to within nine points.
However, Finn Russell’s penalty saw Scotland home by 12.
