“We have seven points from two Celtic Challenge games and we’ll take that” says Lindsey Smith as Glasgow head into 2026

Glasgow Warriors were frustrated to lose out to Edinburgh Rugby on December 27 at Hive Stadium, but seven points from two games gives them a good platform to build from going into 2026.

When Glasgow led 10-0 after 30 minutes and had dominated possession up to that point it looked like they might be on the way to making it two Celtic Challenge wins out of two.

However, Edinburgh recovered to trail just 15-14 at the interval and then really kicked on to win 31-25 and earn five points to Glasgow’s two.

Glasgow head coach Lindsey Smith said:  “We played some nice rugby and possibly could have been more than 10-0 up after the first half hour, but at that stage we were still pretty pleased with how things were going.

“Things then turned around a bit, but we still led at half-time. We then maybe just switched off a wee bit for a spell and that cost us. However, I was pleased that the players stuck to their task and kept going to get us two points out of the game.

“We have seven points from two games and we will take that.”

Glasgow’s tries came from centre Beth Blacklock, wingers Hannah Smyth and Sky Phimister and two from co-captain Holland Bogan. Co-captain Ceitidh Ainsworth was yellow carded.

The Edinburgh try scorers here were hooker Aila Ronald, tighthead prop Molly Poolman, captain Hannah Walker, her fellow winger Cieron Bell and sub Nicole Marlow. Stand-off Hannah Ramsay converted three of the tries.

Both sides have one win and one loss now in the competition and will next play on January 10. Glasgow’s fixture that day is at Scotstoun against Gwalia Lightning.
