Full caps Fi McIntosh and Adelle Ferrie will team up in the second-row when a Scotland women’s A squad take on the Netherlands on Saturday.
The matchday 23, with Emily Barber travelling as a reserve, is mostly made up of players who are involved in Scottish Rugby’s Central Programme and National Academy with many of the players having previously been capped across the age grades.
McIntosh, who is now linked with Glasgow Warriors and is captain for this game, and Edinburgh Rugby’s Ferrie bring some real experience in the ‘boiler house’.
Teenage centre Lisa Brown has been named vice-captain, showing just how highly she is rated.
Rianna Darroch, who was capped by Scotland during the Six Nations earlier in the year, will look to make an impact off the bench and there is a lot of exciting talent for the future in this group.
Claire Cruikshank, who is head coach for the match in Amsterdam, said: “This is going to be a really valuable opportunity for this group of players to experience what Test rugby is about and to be exposed to this kind of international environment.
“Some of the squad will have experience of that before whilst it will be a new opportunity for others.
“The game against the Netherlands will give the squad a real taste of the demands, intensity and physicality of international rugby and that learning experience will be hugely important in their development and progression.”
