A 26-player Scotland women’s under-18 squad has travelled to the Netherlands where they will face the hosts and Wales in a Summer Series festival this weekend in Amsterdam.
Scott Riddell, who was recently appointed as national talent pathway manager within the new aligned women’s performance and pathways system, is head coach for the trip supported by Millan Browne – who also works as a national talent pathway coach – as assistant coach.
The squad is made up of of 16 forwards and 10 backs and the last time the under-18s played was in the Six Nations Festival down south in April.
Riddell, the former Scotland Sevens captain who went to three Commonwealth Games, three sevens World Cups and helped the Scots win the Twickenham event on the World Series in 2016 and 2017, said about the trip and his new role: “This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of women’s rugby in Scotland.
“Our ambition is to create a player-centred pathway that challenges, develops and inspires the next generation of Scottish players, ensuring they have the skills, behaviours and support to reach their full potential.”
