W6Ns build up: Squad head down south to Wellington College for the women’s U18 Six Nations Festival

The Scotland women’s squad are on their way down south to the U18 Six Nations Festival which starts later this week.

The event is taking place at Wellington College in Berkshire, England, and the group will play Italy on Thursday, England and Ireland in 35-minute matches next Monday and Wales on April 10.

Scotland women’s under-18 head coach Lindsey Smith said: “We’ve had quite a quick four-week build up to the festival.

“We had a hit-out against Wales which gave us some good information about where we are as a squad and what we need to work on heading into that first game against Italy on Thursday.

“We’ve got a good mix of experienced players, some who played Celtic Challenge this season and will lead from the front and some young, exciting players who have come through the inter-district regional matches and the pro-alignment fixtures.

“There has been good playing opportunities for this group leading into the Six Nations festival, and now we’re looking forward to seeing where we can play to our strengths and what the girls can do given the opportunity.”

Last year the highlight at the same event was a win over England.

A recent change in safeguarding policy means Scottish Rugby did not provide the names of the clubs and schools all players represent when releasing the squad.
