Scottish rugby official Hollie Davidson is set to make more history next month following her appointment as the referee for the Top 14 French league match between Clermont and Lyon.
On April 17, Davidson, the 33-year-old from Aboyne, will become the first female to officiate a match in France’s top domestic men’s league when the two famous sides face off at the Stade Marcel Michelin.
In recent years Davidson has broken a whole host of records and, in February, she became the first female to officiate a men’s Six Nations match.
And, despite his side losing out 20-13 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin to Ireland in that one, Italy captain Michele Lamaro said afterwards: “I want to emphasise that the referee Hollie Davidson has been outstanding.”
She became Scottish Rugby’s first full-time female referee in 2017 and late last year was inducted into Scottish Rugby’s Hall of Fame.
