Dundee Valkyries captain Jenna Milne says she is “very proud” of the team after they secured the Arnold Clark Women’s Caledonia Midlands East One title following an unbeaten 2025/26 campaign.
A bonus point 41-7 away win against Howe Harlequins on Sunday, November 9 in the slimmed down four-team league – it started as seven teams before Corstorphine Cougars 2nd XV, Kelso and Strathmore withdrew – made sure that Dundee will finish top of the standings on 28 points after five victories and a draw.
Other clubs still have games to play as of November 25, but the Valkyries cannot be caught and Milne said: “I’m very proud of the team.
“We had to put in a huge shift against Howe to get over the line and the scoreline inn that one does not reflect the competitive nature of the fixture and the fight that both sides gave during the match.
“The Valks turned up and gave 100 percent and that’s all I asked for and to win the league with this group of players is fantastic.
“It is a great achievement to win the league, especially with such little game time given to us this season. Our coaches Gary Mathieson and Suzanne Hodge have done a great job of keeping us on track throughout the league campaign and their coaching has translated into some strong performances.”
By winning their league, Dundee Valkyries now have the opportunity to go into the Regional Play-Off competition after the new year with the chance of earning a place in the Women’s Premiership for next season.
“We know what to expect from previous years in those play-offs and we know the challenge that awaits us, but we are exciting to give it a go and represent the Caledonia Midlands East leagues,” Milne added.
In the Howe game at Duffus Park which sealed the title, Olivia Meiklejohn scored two tries for Dundee with Joy Fletcher, Milne herself and Natalie Cardosi with three also crossing. Charis Blake kicked three conversions.
