W6Ns France week: Gala head coach “couldn’t be prouder of the team” as the Netherdale side prepare for the Bowl final

Gala head coach Corey Polson says he “couldn’t be prouder of the team” ahead of this coming Saturday’s women’s National Bowl final against Falkirk.

The game will be played within the Murrayfield complex at 1.15pm before Scotland take on France at 4.15pm at Hive Stadium in round four of the Women’s Six Nations so there will be a real buzz on the day.

With Watsonians having won the Sarah Beaney Cup, Broughton having won the women’s National Shield and Lenzie having won the women’s National Plate on April 25 on Silver Saturday, Gala want to join them in the winner’s circle.

Before Christmas, Gala lost their last Aspiring League game 57–24 away to Falkirk at Horne Park.

In the five-team Bowl group stage, Gala defeated BanffBroch at home 93-5, came out on top 33-22 at Musselburgh and got the better of Aberfeldy 91-0 at home.

They finished second in the standings after not being able to raise a squad to face Falkirk on a particular day, but they are certainly ready to take them on this weekend.

Polson said:  “I couldn’t be prouder of the team. To start with absolutely nothing four years ago and build from scratch has been some task, but the commitment from the team has been incredible.

“Every player in the wider squad has worked their socks off this season from the start of July to now. The amount of focus required to get to this stage and the Bowlfinal has been amazing given that most of these players had never played rugby before they arrived at Gala.

“There is a great buzz around the team and hopefully they can go out and play some good rugby with smiles on their faces.

“We’ve been playing some of our best rugby yet this side of Christmas and the team just keeps getting stronger by the game. Here’s hoping for more of the same at the weekend in this big game.”

The trophy will be presented to the winning team at the Hive during half-time of the Scotland-France game while the Bowl final will be shown live on the Scottish Rugby YouTube channel.
